Syon Clinic is hosting a free online educational event for GPs and allied Healthcare Professionals. Hosted by Dr Joel Mawdsley, this session focuses on bloating and food allergy.
Dr Joel Mawdsley undertook his pre-clinical medical studies at Queens’ college, Cambridge University obtaining a first class Honours degree and winning the Max Bull Prize for medicine. He studied clinical medicine at Barts and the Royal London Hospital Medical School, graduating with Honours in Clinical Pharmacology and Merits in Clinical Medicine and Pathology.
As a Specialist Registrar, he trained on the North West Thames Gastroenterology rotation, working at St Mark’s Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This provided him with a broad training in all aspects of gastroenterology and he developed a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis). In line with this from 2005-7 he was a clinical research fellow at the Royal London Hospital, and successfully completed Doctorate of Medicine on the role of stress and psychoneuroimmunology in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
In 2008, he took up a Consultant position at West Middlesex University Hospital where he is the clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease and the training lead for Endoscopy.
