This session will discuss the challenges and successes of adopting children from the point of view of the professional, the parents and the child. Crittenden’s theories of attachment strategies will be thought about as well as the neurological impact of developmental trauma. There will an interactive element to this session. Rachel Swanick, is a senior therapist at Chroma, where she works clinically and line manages therapists. She specializes in attachment and trauma work with children and families of all ages. Rachel is a trained APCI assessor and trainer and is currently undertaking a PhD. She works psychodynamically, with elements of behavioral and neurological approaches. She also works with the Manchester Museum to support their social prescribing sessions for the Early Years department. Rachel has published several papers, reflective music therapy blogs, and is the co-author of APCI training manual for the University of Aalborg.
