Want to create more action on the climate and nature crisis, but feel that you don’t know how to connect with and motivate people through their objections or feelings of powerlessness. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join a learning community and learn how to use a coaching approach in our work on the climate and ecological crisis.
In just 13 weeks you will:
- Learn how to recognise the psychological reasons that someone is stalling on making change
- Be able to shift a fixed mindset of ‘there’s not enough’ and help them to see more possibility
- Gain the skills to overcome strong resistance to change without any conflict
- Be able to deescalate overwhelm in yourself and others, to create meaningful action plans
- Learn how to build your own resilience and protect yourself from burnout
- Form much stronger relationships with colleagues in the community you train with
You don’t need any prior knowledge of coaching. You will gain practical skills that you can immediately start to use in your work. The course is taught using easy-to-apply models and powerful theories in live online sessions with two expert facilitators. In addition to learning new ways of influencing and empowering others, you will be part of a community of likeminded colleagues, with whom you will form closer working relationships.
Climate change is at the core of Natural England’s work and we have a strong reputation in this area. We are committed to embedding climate action across our organisation, through our Climate Change Strategic Plan, and want to empower all of our colleagues to get involved. We have been working with the Climate Change Coaches for four years to bring a coaching approach to conversations about climate change, and are really pleased to be able to offer this comprehensive 13-week programme to you.
The Climate Change Coaches are leaders in their field and our relationship with them is strengthening and empowering us to act on the climate and ecological crisis. We are establishing the coaching approach as a key part of the development we need to build good relationships, galvanise action and support our staff in this empowering work, creating a community capable of addressing the challenges of the climate emergency.
The Climate Change Coaches will run five interactive training workshops of 2 hours. There will be a further 2 1 hour clinic sessions run by internal staff to support your learning. There are also additional learning resources on the Climate Change Coaches’ online learning platform. All 5 workshops and the 2 clinics will be delivered virtually and have been chosen to best help Natural England staff in your roles (please do contact us if you'd like more information), the modules are:
