Co-design workshop: Accommodation for Refugee Student Settlement Pathway
Tue, 07 May 2024 03:00:00 GMT → Tue, 07 May 2024 05:00:00 GMT (d=2 hours, 0 seconds)
The Refugee Student Settlement Pilot (RSSP) is a blueprint for a potential ground-breaking new education migration pathway for refugees in Australia. The pathway is being developed through a two-tier co-design process. The first phase of co-design took place in 2023 and involved co-designing the ‘what’ of the RSSP, including the size, shape, and proposed cost-sharing model for the program. This email is an invitation for you to participate in the second phase of co-design, which will involve co-designing the ‘how’ of the RSSP, including implementation and operationalisation.
Specifically, this workshop will focus on discussing accommodation standards and requirements for RSSP students. Example topics and questions to be discussed in the workshop include:
What are the pros and cons of suitable temporary accommodation arrangements for students? For example:
- Residential Colleges
- Purpose-built Student Accommodation
- University Housing
- Homestay
- Private leasing
What processes already exist that could support the allocation of RSSP students to the best-fit accommodation option?
What supports need to be offered for accommodation staff?
What other factors need to be considered?
On behalf of Refugee Education Special Interest Group (RESIG) and the Student Accommodation Association, we thank you for generously giving your time to support this important project and looking forward to seeing you in the workshop.
