Fix Your Sitemap: May 2024
Tue, 28 May 2024 19:00:00 GMT → Tue, 28 May 2024 22:00:00 GMT (d=3 hours, 0 seconds)
Website all tangled up? Intranet a mess? Users reporting confusion? Digital content should be easy to find, but as sites get bigger and companies get more complex, content gets hidden, lost, and duplicated, leading to declining user satisfaction and trust.
It doesn't have to be this way! By asking the right questions and relying on firm organizational principles, we can plan better sitemaps—that is, better blueprints for storing and sharing our digital content. This three-hour workshop will dig into how we can make it easier for people (our users, our customers, our teams) to find the content they need. It's a practical crash course in information architecture!
What we'll cover
Together, we'll discuss:
- the business considerations behind sitemaps
- how to work with the content you have (and the content users need)
- best practices for grouping and ordering information
- how to create structure and connection throughout your site or digital experience
Who this is for
This workshop will be helpful for content designers and strategists, web designers, product designers and managers, front- and back-end developers, and anyone else who thinks their digital spaces could work a little bit better. Best for folks who are or soon will be working on a site redesign or sitemap project.
While we'll mostly be talking about websites, the lessons will also be applicable to intranets, apps, and digital ecosystems.
No information architecture experience required.
