Sun, 28 Apr 2024 20:00:00 GMT → Sun, 28 Apr 2024 21:30:00 GMT (d=1 hours, 30 minutes, 0 seconds)
JYCA's Jews Against Marginalization (JAM) program presents: a national hangout for Jewish youth of color! If you identify as a Jewish youth of color, or if you are a person of color with Jewish ancestry, we invite you to an afternoon of fun and community-building with intergenerational Jews of color.
You do not want to miss out on our national hang on Zoom, on April 28th from 1pm pst to 2:30pm pst / 4pm est to 5:30pm est!
During our time together, participants will co-create a space of belonging, share their experiences as Jews of color, and engage in Jewish ritual together for Passover with Kohenet Keshira haLev Fife.
--------
JAM is a FREE affinity space for Jews of Color, Sephardim, and Mizrahim (JOCSM) youth (ages 14-18). This program is a safe, inclusive space for youth to explore and celebrate their intersectional identities while building community.
JAM is where diaspora meets & identities integrate, for youth to learn from and uplift each other. Our Jewish social justice & program values include: intentional authenticity, belonging, rest, play, connection, and radical joy as a form of protest.
--------
There are few affinity spaces available for JOCSM folks to access, particularly for JOCSM youth. Providing empowering community to JOCSM youth is a need that JYCA strives to meet.
According to the JOC Initiative's Beyond the Count study, "Gatherings of JOC provide a sense of belonging and solidarity that is unavailable in other areas of Jewish communal life. Many described these experiences and relationships as profoundly healing."
And, at JAM, we focus on the joy & liberatory power found in our intersectional identities & community. Will you join us?
