About Us: What We Do
About Short Film Youth Competition (SFYC) 2024
Dedicated to empowering and enriching the Youth community in Singapore, SFYC seeks to broaden youths’ perspectives on mental health through specially curated filmmaking and mental health workshops.
As part of this competition, MHFFS will feature workshops with industry experts. These workshops aim to empower and equip youth participants with credible information on mental health in Singapore, as well as practical filmmaking tips.
About Mental Health Film Festival Singapore (MHFFS)
MHFFS provides a safe platform for audiences to learn more about different aspects of mental health through a series of films, panel conversations, and workshops. As mental health awareness continues to grow in Singapore, it is also crucial to acknowledge the importance of managing our emotions and discomforts on the subject. Only in doing so can we take meaningful steps to support the mental health of our children, youths, and communities.

About Caring For Life (CFL)
CFL develops a community-based approach to identify and address early suicide ideation. Their strategy includes raising awareness about mental well-being and resilience, building the capacity of stakeholders to identify individuals with suicide ideation, and establishing peer support groups for those affected by suicide, fostering a network of support within communities.

What can I expect?
As conversations around mental health and mental well-being increase, it is not uncommon for us to be overwhelmed by the amount of information and be confused by differing opinions.
In tandem with our SFYC 2024, MHFFS has partnered with CFL to bring a Mental Health Awareness Talk to understand the basics, address any misconceptions or confusions, and talk about applications to self and others, through the use of mental health short films.
Through this workshop, we hope you will be able to achieve these objectives:
- Prevalences of different mental health issues in Singapore?
- Difference between mental health issues and mental well-being?
- National Mental Health Blueprint and the services available at different tiers
- What is self care and care for others?
*Please note that photos may be taken during the workshop for publicity purposes. By registering for this event, you hereby consent to having your photo/likeness/recordings posted publicly and on social media.
