Screenwriting: Redrafting
Sun, 21 Apr 2024 13:00:00 GMT → Sun, 21 Apr 2024 15:00:00 GMT (d=2 hours, 0 seconds)
Congratulations on completing the first draft of your screenplay! Now what?
Redrafting doesn't have to be daunting. This two hour online workshop will take you through dozens of exercises and techniques, with time for redrafting during the session and the opporunitity to share and feedback. You'll come away from it with the confidence and tools to apply these techniques to all parts of your screenplay. They can also be applied to playwriting or any form of dramatic writing.
The workshop will cover:
- The big questions of writing purpose, theme and philosophical intention
- How to introduce fresh ideas
- How to cut
- Fixing problems in structure
- Progressive complication
- Characterisation
- Dialogue
- Screenplay formatting issues
- Lots of practical exercises
- A Q&A section on any aspect of screenwriting
- Comfort breaks away from the screen throughout the workshop
This session is for someone who has a full draft of a feature film, short film, play, short play or any form of dramatic writing comprising of several scenes and an entire story arc. You will need to have a draft to work on as part of the workshop. If you are new to dramatic writing I would recommend taking my 'Screenwriting Fundamentals' workshop before this one, as I will be building on concepts discussed in that workshop.
You will need:
- A laptop/tablet/mobile with video call capabilities.
- The draft of your screenplay. I would recommend having a printed copy to hand write changes onto. Though you can redraft within your screenwriting software if you prefer.
- A willingness to engage with the exercises - though you won't be required to share your work if you don't want to.
- To be respectful of everyone in the workshop.
This workshop will take place online using a google meet video call which will open the call within your web browser. I want to make it as accessible as possible so please do let me know what I can do to accommodate your needs.
This workshop is limited to four participants so that everyone has the opportunity to share and feedback during the session.
I want to offer this workshop for anyone to attend as I believe creating art should be open to everyone. Therefore if you need a concession price do email me and I will give you a promo code ([email protected]). If you find the workshop helpful and would like to contribute to my creative work (though there is no obligation) there will be an opportunity to after the workshop.
