This 60 minute lecture aims to provide a quick but detailed dive into the theory and practical side of videostroboscopy. The lecture will include:
What videostroboscopy is and why it's so important.
The videostroboscopy pathway (when is it appropriate, why do we need it, what is the optimal collaboration between medical professionals, and how it enhances therapeutic success)
How to advocate for your patients to obtain videostroboscopy
What to do if you don't have access to videostroboscopy
How to be involved in your patient's videostroboscopy-related workup (if you work in a voice clinic or even if you aren't in a collaborative clinic)
How to interpret/analyse videostroboscopy
Insight into voice-related diagnostic and therapeutic decision making
Examples of cases and voices, and research related to all of these concepts.
There will be a live 15 minute question and answer session with Sara after her presentation.
Learning Objectives:
1) Participants will name at least three differences between videostroboscopy and laryngoscopy.
2) Participants will summarize the videostroboscopy pathway and how this enhances therapeutic success.
3) Participants will describe benefits of using biofeedback to enhance patient understanding and carryover.
4) Participants will apply gained knowledge to develop best care plans for voice patients.

All about Sara:
Sara Davis, M.A. CCC-SLP is medical speech/voice pathologist who specialises in working with patients who have voice, upper airway, and/or swallowing disorders including those with head/neck cancer. She currently works in a private practice ENT setting in Phoenix/Scottsdale Arizona and co-created (with the laryngologist) the collaborative voice/airway/swallow clinic within the practice.
Sara has expert laryngoscopy skills and uses videostroboscopy frequently in her clinical work. She has over 13 years of experience in voice centers, ENT private practice, and/or outpatient clinics performing videostroboscopy, acoustic/aerodynamic assessment of voice, FEES, VFSS/MBSS, a variety of voice therapy methods, dysphagia therapy, and treatment of ILO/EILO/VCD as well as chronic refractory cough and irritable larynx/laryngeal hypersensitivity.
She is extremely passionate about her specialties within speech pathology and works closely in collaboration with other medical professionals to prioritize achieving the highest level of evidence-based patient care. Sara is the founder of VOXFIT®, a medical speech pathology and voice consulting service striving to educate, coach, and inspire occupational voice users and transform their voices and lives. She has been featured on several podcasts and other media outlets (magazine, TV, websites), and also sings with the worship group at her church.
One of her favorite things to do is perform a videostroboscopy on a patient and then teach them all about their (vocal) instrument!
